Hey have you tried the new Starbucks flavor yet?  I picked one up at the airport, on my way home from that Washington trip I told you about the other day.  It’s really good!  Very chocolate-y and rich, with a hint of sweet cinnamon and a really interesting spiciness that warms you in the loveliest way.

I love when Starbucks comes out with new flavors.  People always go nuts for those seasonal coffees!  And they never fail to inspire me to do something fun for this site.

Remember two years ago when I made that Chestnut Praline bundt cake?  That was awesome.  So buttery and nutty!  The brown sugar pound cake was so moist and flavorful, and that chestnut praline sauce was just off the charts.  Well, this year it’s all about the Chile Mocha, and I’m showing you an easy way to recreate this scrummy drink at home.

It’s basically just a really simple spice mix that includes cocoa powder, sugar, cinnamon, ancho chili powder, and a tiny pinch of cayenne.  You can mix it up in a matter of seconds!

Stir those together and add to your coffee, whatever your go-to coffee may be.  My go-to is a latte (I have this kind of machine), so that means I steam about 6 ounces of milk and add that to 2 ounces of brewed espresso.  But if you’re more of a cafe Americano-type, this would work equally well with regular drip coffee + cream or half & half.

This chile mocha latte will warm you from the inside out!  It’s a perfect drink for the cooler months.  Rich, chocolate-y, and creamy, with a hint of cinnamon and warm spice.  Take it with you when you go to the pumpkin patch or to a football game!  You’ll love that little bit of spicy heat.

You can even mix up a big jar of this chile mocha mix, and give it as a gift.  It’s a great way to treat yourself or someone you love.  This recipe makes enough to fill an 8-ounce canning jar, which yields around 10 servings.  I tied it up pretty with jute and baker’s twine.  Easy as can be and so cute!
