Vanilla Caramel Apple Shakes

Hello, friends!  It’s me, Allie!  As you may remember from my last post, I’m currently recuperating my heiny off after a little surgical thingy.  Fun times.

I put a call out a week or two prior, looking for guest posters, and Rachel was ON IT!  I’m so pleased that she was willing and eager to help me out in this way.  She’s such a sweetie!  And I just adore her photos!  Prepare to have your socks rocked off with this fabulous treat Rachel made for us!

Happy National Caramel Apple Day!

I LOVE Fall! As a teacher, I enjoy back-to-school, but now that time of year is done. We are settled into our school routines and the crisp nights of fall have arrived. There is something wonderful about the fresh air and climate changes which take place here in the northeast.

October has the distinct privilege of being national caramel AND national apple month. In addition to having a whole month dedicated to these perfect fall items, October 21 is national caramel apple day!

Caramel Apple Milkshake

Today is the perfect day to enjoy these shakes, but they will serve you well anytime this fall. So, when you are done apple picking, or haunted housing, or pumpkin carving, or jumping in the leaves, or trick-or-treating, or making your way out of a corn maze or done carving a turkey – you are going to need a delicious snack!

Whipped Cream and Apple topped Shake

With just a few fall kitchen staples, this thick and creamy milkshake is literally just minutes away. You can even go healthy by using frozen yogurt (store bought or freeze regular yogurt in cubes) OR indulge a little bit by using vanilla ice cream. I promise that you that you won’t be disappointed with this shake. It has that great “fall taste” that you are looking for this time of year!

Ingredients

  • 2 - 3 apples,, peeled (1/2 for garnish)
  • 1 cup (236.59 g) frozen yogurt, (I froze my yogurt into an ice cube tray)
  • 1/2 cup (118.29 ml) milk, (vanilla almond milk is my preference)
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons caramel, (the dipping kind is perfect, + some for drizzle)
  • whipped cream, (for garnish)

Instructions

  • In a blender, combine apple, yogurt ( or ice cream), milk, caramel, & cinnamon. Mix well until super smooth.
  • Add 1 tablespoon of caramel sauce into each glass and swirl around.
  • Add half of the remaining apple (this will require you using a spoon for the shake, skip this if you want to skip the spoon) at the bottom of the glass, then pour the shake.
  • Top with whipped cream and remaining apple chunks.
