Welcome back from Thanksgiving break!
I hope it was a good one!
It was for me, and much needed. It felt so good to kick back a little and just enjoy time with family. I even got a jump on some of the holiday decorating and shopping!
Since it’s November (almost December) I’m really in the comfort food mood. Something about those blustery gray skies, dry leaves, and chilly temps just makes me crave foods that are warm and soft. Like a big hug.
This snickerdoodle apple cobbler has been keeping us warm for the last few days.
The filling is made with Granny Smith apples, which are my absolute favorite for baking. I love their tart, extra-apple-y flavor, and they’re firm so they hold up really well for baking, without turning to mush. With a little butter, sugar, and cinnamon, they’re just like a bowl of pure fall!
And is there anything better than a snickerdoodle cookie at this time of year? Puffy and soft in the middle, with just the right amount of crisp on the edges. This cobbler is literally covered in them! With their buttery taste and cinnamon-sugar coating, they’re the perfect compliment to warm baked apples.
I got the idea to make this snickerdoodle apple cobbler after flipping through a recent issue of Better Homes & Gardens magazine. They had all sorts of baked cobblers, buckles, and crisps, with unusual toppings like oatmeal cookie or pound cake. Why not?? I thought it was a fabulous idea and wanted to put my own spin on it for you.
Hope you love it as much as we do!

Hi Allie, I made this recipe last week for my Dad ( a snickerdoodle fan) and it turned out perfect. My Mom even said it was great cold! Thank you for all the wonderful recipes.
This is the perfect dessert for serving at holiday gatherings. Easy, no-fuss and SO delicious!
So happy you like it Jessica! Thanks for the great feedback.
Oh wow- these are amazing! My snickerdoodle loving family will love this!
Allie- about how many pounds of apples does 10 granny smith apples yield?
Hey Lisa! One apple is usually about 1/3 of a pound, so you’d be looking at a little over 3 pounds of apples.
ummm yummy! I need to make this. 2 of my favorites together in one dish
So happy you like it! Thanks for the positive feedback!
Thanks for this recipe! I love cobblers and winter is the only time in Las Vegas that I can tolerate the oven staying on. I am now trying it in small Mason jars so I can mail to my friends. On a couple of them I added some rum-soaked raisins for friends who like boozy holidays. Now I have to try vegan and gluten-free recipes (yikes)
I love your rum-soaked raisin idea Suzanne! Your friends are so lucky!
If you hadn’t sent me that link, I still probably wouldn’t have been able to get the recipe. I tried clicking on “The Stem” in your post again, & the same thing comes up & there’s no way to scroll down on the site. I don’t know what’s wrong or if anyone else is having the same problem. But now I have the recipe printed out, so I’m good to go. Thanks again. I’ll let you know how the recipe turns out when I make it someday. Happy Holidays to you & your family, Allie.
Hi, Allie. This recipe really looks delicious. But I don’t know how to get the instructions so I can make it. When I click on “The Stem” it takes me to their page, but I don’t know how to find the instructions on their site. I clicked on a few things, but nothing came up that had to do with the recipe. Can you help? Thanks.
Hey Sandy! I’m so sorry you’re having trouble! You can find the full recipe here: https://www.stemilt.com/stem-blog/snickerdoodle-apple-cobbler/.
Thank you so much, Allie. This time it worked & I can finally print it out. It looks so good. Thanks again.
No problem Sandy! You caught me right as I was updating plugins. I think it was only down for a few minutes! Glad it’s working for you now.
Yes please! This whole recipe is perfection, Allie!
Thank you so much Tori!
