  • 8 apples, medium (about 4 pounds)
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon (or to taste)
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons lemon juice (juice of half a lemon), or to taste
