Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a 9x5 loaf pan with parchment paper, leaving a little overhang.
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, kosher salt and garlic powder.
Then add the shredded sharp cheddar and toss to coat all the cheese strands with the flour mixture.
In a spouted measuring cup, whisk together the milk, egg and melted butter.
Now pour the wet ingredients over the flour mixture and mix until just combined. Try not to over mix or the cheese bread will be tough.
Spoon the dough into the prepared loaf pan.
Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes; the top and edges will be set and a toothpick inserted in the center will come out clean.
Allow to cool in the pan for 5-10 minutes, then remove the bread to a wire cooling rack.
Cheese bread can be sliced after 15 minutes of cooling and can be served warm or at room temperature.
