How to Make a Cookie Gift Box! Tuck a few Valentine’s Day treats inside this fun craft project. Plus a Free Printable Valentine card, with Annie’s Bunny Fruit Snacks!
Good afternoon, friends! I’m popping in again today with a couple of fun Valentine’s Day ideas!
Did you know you could make a gift box out of cookies??? It’s true! It’s fun, and pretty simple stuff too.
You can do this with any roll-out/cut-out cookie recipe you like. I have a really good vanilla recipe here, and an even better chocolate version, but for today’s post I decided to use this chocolate graham cracker recipe. I had my kids in mind when I made these, so I like all the healthy whole grains that are in there.
Especially when gifted with a pack of Annie’s Organic Bunny Fruit Snacks! How cute are these, seriously. Look at how you can write a little message right on the package. These were just made for Valentine’s Day gifting!
All you need to do is roll the dough out to a thickness of 1/4-inch (I really love these rolling pin rings for getting a nice, even thickness), and then cut out your heart shapes. I used the biggest cutter in this set
. If you’re using this recipe, you should have enough dough to make at least 2 cookie boxes. So, you’ll first cut 4 hearts, and then with the remaining dough, you’ll cut 6 more, using a sharp paring knife to cut away the middle part of the heart. You want to leave yourself with about a 1/2-inch cookie border. After they’re baked, just stack them up like so:
…using a little royal icing to adhere them together. Decorate the top of the box with royal icing designs, and voila!
It’s a perfect place to hide a fun little treat.
My kids love Annie’s Organic Bunny Fruit Snacks- they’re sweet and chewy and full of fun, fruity flavor. And I’m happy to give them to them because they are made from organic ingredients, with no artificial flavors, colors, preservatives, or high-fructose corn syrup.
Making these cookie boxes was a fun little craft and I’m excited to give them to my boys on Valentine’s Day. And, since I always like to make fun and unique Valentines for them to give to their classmates, I’ve also created a cute printable.
You can download the jpeg file here. Just print it out on letter-size cardstock as a 5×7, two to a page. And be sure to uncheck the “Fit Picture to Frame” option. Then use some festive washi to tape on a pack of Bunny Snacks. Sweet!
Some of the tools I used to create these cookie boxes:
Rolling Pin Rings
Parchment Paper Sheets
Half-Sheet Baking Pans
Heart-Shaped Cookie Cutter Set
Disposable Piping Bags
Couplers
Small Round Icing Tip #2
