How to Cut a Pineapple

Learn how to cut a whole, fresh pineapple into chunks with this easy, step-by-step video tutorial.

How to cut a whole fresh pineapple into bite-sized pieces in less than 4 minutes!

Good morning, friends!

Just popping in again today to share this little video I created.

I know somebody who spends $9.99 a pound on cut pineapple, and I just think that is crazy!  A whole fresh pineapple costs just a few dollars, and they're available all year 'round.  (And I know I don't have to convince you that fresh is better than canned.)  We almost always have one lying around the kitchen, for smoothies, snacks, whatever!  It takes me about 3 ½ minutes to break one down into bite-sized pieces (I timed it!), but through the magic of video editing this video tutorial teaches you in just a little over 2.

Hopefully that was helpful!  Talk again soon 🙂

  1. Great video! I may or may not have let a pineapple get over-ripe just because I didn't feel like tackling it...

    1. I'm gonna keep my mouth shut right now and NOT admit that I have one on my counter right now... lol! Even when it's easy I still sometimes get lazy I guess. Thanks so much for stopping by again Sharon, and for the sweet comment!

  2. Awesome video, Allie! I have never done anything with a whole pineapple before but now I'll know how! I kinda want to go get one right now, haha. 🙂

    1. Go get it girl! Lol... so glad you enjoyed the video, Beth! Thanks so much sweetie 🙂

  3. Thanks for the video. This will definitely come in handy with Summer around the corner.

  4. Truly fascinating post. I confess, I'm guilty of of buying those cored pineapples in the store, the problem? The cores are largely still there! My sister always complains about when I cut it myself how there's always core still in my slices! And my pieces aren't even. I really need to try this, the way you sliced out the core was ingenious! My 5 year old is insisting we watch the video again....here we go!! It must be really good if it can compete with Frozen! Thanks.

    1. Ha! Wow I can't believe she'd choose cutting a pineapple over Frozen! I totally agree, besides charging a fortune for pre-cut pineapple, the stores do such a crappy job with it! The hunks are always ginormous and full of woody core. It's a crime.

  5. Such a good tutorial! I'm the only one in my family who volunteers to cut the pineapple when it's ripe. 😀

  6. Great video, and it's so true -- people spend so much on pre-cut pineapple when it takes all of 5 minutes to do it yourself! I've totally been wanting to try videos but I'm kinda chicken. 🙂

    1. It was a big step for me too Marcie! When I have the time though, it's a lot of fun. Thanks sweetie!

  7. I love this video Allie! I would love to do videos but honestly have no idea how to make it happen haha I need to do some research 🙂

And I so agree with you - cutting a pineapple yourself is soooo the way to go! Way cheaper and I think tastes fresher too!

    1. So much better, right?

I have been doing a ton of research for months now and I finally feel like I sorta get the basics, but man, it's a whole new world and there is just TONS still to learn. Good luck Ashley!

  8. Great video, Allie! I had no idea how to cut a pineapple, but thanks to you now I do!
I think this might make you an internet sensation!

  9. I wish I would have seen this one day earlier! I had just haphazardly cut up a pineapple the night before I saw this post, and I was thinking "there has to be a better way!"

I will definitely follow this how to next time.

    Great post!

    1. Thank you so much! I love this method, I do it the same basic way for all kinds of fruits. Makes things so much easier! So glad you enjoyed, Lindsey; thanks for the great feedback!

  10. $9.99 for pineapple....eerm, kill me now! That video is awesome! I am so impressed! Are you going to be doing videos for recipes going forward? It's like having your own cooking show!

    1. Thanks Nagi! I hope to- it's a lot of fun! Right now it's pretty time consuming for me because of the steep learning curve, but as I get the hang of it, I hope to do lots more. 🙂
