The Velvet Apple Cocktail- so perfect for a crisp day and stupid simple to make :)

My kids are off school all. week.  All. Stinkin'. Week.  I don't know who's idea this was but I think all three of us would like to sit them down and give them what for.

They're miserable.  I'm miserable.  Nothing is getting done.  I need a drink.

It doesn't get much simpler than this.  You can mix this up while you're cooking tomorrow, and your guests can do their own.  Just set out some stout beers, and some hard cider, and keep it on ice.  It's a one to one ratio.

I've dubbed it the "Velvet Apple" because it's inspired by the Black Velvet cocktail.  A Black Velvet is equal parts Guinness and sparkling wine.  I figured, if champagne works then I think apple cider would too.  And it does!  The sweet cider is balanced out by the roasty-malty notes in the stout beer.  The two really bring out the best in each other!

We'll be sipping on these over the next few days for sure.  It's a great winter drink.  I hope you enjoy!  And have a very happy Thanksgiving!
