To me, milkshakes are the ultimate in lazy summer treats. I mean, you don’t even have to lift a spoon!
Recently I have been allll about the milkshake, and this one totally takes the taco.
Berries and chocolate are my dream come true. Spike it with rum and amaretto and I’m over the moon.
You can use any berry or combination of berries your heart desires. I used a mixture of raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, and strawberries. Just cook them down until they get soft and syrupy. You can leave it chunky if you’re feeling extra lazy, but personally I prefer to go the extra mile and puree and strain them. That way everything slips right through the straw, easy peasy.
I used Nielsen Massey extracts to bump up the flavor in this shake. Their Pure Chocolate Extract really takes the chocolate flavor to another level, and the Pure Almond Extract brings out the sweetness in the berries. It’s heaven in a glass!
You can read more about these (and other) extracts, and their uses and pairings, here.
Feel free to leave out the hooch if you’re serving little ones. It’s every bit as delish without the buzz!
Top it off with whipped cream, sliced almonds, and a sprinkling of cacao nibs. So delightful!
