Blondies are sometimes called the vanilla cousin of brownies. They use brown sugar and butter instead of cocoa or chocolate, which gives them a rich, caramel-like sweetness and a dense, chewy texture.

For this recipe, strawberry jam is swirled into the batter before baking. This adds fruity flavor and a pretty marbled look, making the bars feel classic and comforting with a fresh berry twist.

These bars look like they came from a bakery, but they are so easy to make. You don’t need a mixer or any complicated steps. With just a few pantry staples, you will have a pan of sweet, golden blondies.

These blondies are great for potlucks, brunch, afternoon coffee, or any time you want a simple homemade treat. They look as good as they taste.

Step 1: Prep the pan

Preheat your oven and line a square baking pan with parchment paper. This will help you lift the blondies out easily after they cool.

Step 2: Mix the wet ingredients

Whisk together the brown sugar, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla until the mixture is smooth and shiny.

Step 6: Swirl and bake

Use a skewer or the tip of a knife to swirl the jam into the batter.

Step 7: Bake

Bake until the edges are set, and the center is still a little wobbly.

Step 8: Cool completely

It is important to let the blondies cool completely before cutting. This helps them set and makes it easier to slice them neatly.

Helpful Tips and Tricks

  • Do not overmix the batter after adding the flour. Stirring too much can make the bars tough.
  • Stir the jam until it is loose before swirling it in. This helps it spread easily and makes nicer ribbons.
  • Do not overbake the blondies. They will keep setting as they cool, so a slightly wobbly center is what you want.
  • If you can, use parchment paper with extra hanging over the sides. This makes it much easier to lift and slice the blondies.
  • For neat slices, chill the blondies briefly after they cool, then cut them with a sharp knife.
